IC Information
Canon: Original
Character: Lucia Corina
Canon point: After the dead rose in the town by the holy springs.
Canon intensity: Not a lot of gore, but, well, she is dead. Also, she has canonically been enthralled by a ghost before, as well as being enthralled by the elves for decades, in general psychological fuckery is pretty normal for her canon.
World information: Swords and sorcery fantasy kinda thing. Quasi-medieval fantasy not!Europe. The country she's from is called Vankrik, and is inhabited by humans, sun elves, wood elves, deep elves, gobelins, dwarves, and werewolves, among other magical miscellany. (This is my friend's homebrew shit so none of these are like. D&D standard or anything.)
Character biofacts: She was about 23 when she was kidnapped, she was enthralled for [mumble] decades in which she did not age, and after she died escaping she has not aged since because she's dead, so. 23, I guess! Basically! Sort of! She certainly isn't aware that she isn't 23, which is the important part! She's a female human ghost.
About the character: Lucia Corina is from a country called Vankrik, in fantasy quasi-medieval not!Europe. It's mostly Germanic in influence. The major races that live there are humans, werewolves, elves, dwarves, and gobelins. She's human--or, well, she was. Lucia Corina was kidnapped by a wood elf to their halls when she was 23ish, and kept there as a pet poet/bard for... a long time. It didn't feel that long to her, but when she did manage to wake from enthrallment and escape, she went home to find everyone she knew long dead.
She didn't actually survive that escape, though at least to begin with, she thinks she did. She died in the briars around the hall, from accumulated age and in the hungry grasp of thorns, and her ghost rose and... carried on. Since her home is lost to her, she's been a wandering bard and historian. She mostly pays for her meals and space to sleep with music and stories, and she carries with her a pack with her zither (a plucked stringed instrument), a bedroll, and various other necessities for someone who spends their life on the road.
For a time, she fell in with a group of two sun elves and a gobelin, with whom she solved one town's problem with a murderous ghost whose grave goods has been stolen, and another town's problem with the dead rising. She may at times forget about Rue, Kane, and Deorwine, or forget that she's no longer with them.
Lucia Corina is very polite and earnest, and honestly pretty guileless. She's pretty traumatized from her enthrallment in the wood elf hall, but she tries not to think about it. She cares about other beings and wants to help them if she can, or at least make them happier with some music or a story. She's fairly pacifistic and would prefer if everyone just Got Along. Any kind of danger is going to be met with fawning/de-escalation--she's very used to being outclassed and knows she doesn't really have any fighting ability. Compliance is her best weapon. And she's exceedingly polite to strangers, because she lives in a world where someone taking offense can be very, very dangerous.
She does lose track of where and when she is sometimes, particularly when she's alone, and may believe she's anywhen from in the elf hall to on the road with companions.
In the wood elf hall, she spent a lot of time sitting on a decorative vine-twined swing and singing and playing for balls or just for general background music. A caged lark, essentially. She loves music still, but it is a little fraught for her sometimes, especially when she's suspecting she might have been kidnapped for it again.
Her first adventure in the campaign involved investigating a series of murders by a ghost. Lucia Corina's response to an angry ghost materializing was to sing the unearthly song she'd been hearing to her, which got the ghost's attention and got her to stop attacking people and actually communicate. Then she wandered off and found the ghost (Gulda) again later, and Gulda tried to trick her into being enthralled to help her, but Lucia Corina reached out and took her hand willingly, because it wasn't right for her things to be stolen and she deserved them back. (The GM did not expect her to do this.)
Abilities: If she's not aware of the presence of an object, sometimes/often she isn't actually properly tangible to it. Once she's aware that she's dead, she'll be able to be intentionally intangible. She doesn't actually need to eat or sleep or breathe or drink, but she doesn't know that yet. And she'd probably prefer to keep acting like she's alive anyway even once she knows.
Noteworthy items: She has a traveling pack with a bedroll and some basic rations of like, hard bread and venison jerky, enough for a couple days maybe. A change of underclothes. The most notable item is her zither, which looks like this, and functions as her physical anchor to the world of the living if she dies. Re-dies. Double dies. Extra death. Whispering things.
Mixed gender room ok?: yes
Player content notes/squicks: cockroaches and syringes
Anything else: She's elf-touched, which in this context means that she's involuntarily drawn towards anything magical, whether it be benign or inimical. The urge isn't insurmountable, it's not a full compulsion, but if she's not paying attention, or if she's arbitrarily picking a direction, she's going to end up absently heading towards any strong magic nearby. And it can make her judgement slip enough to touch things she really shouldn't, or at least should do more due diligence before touching.
